Misery loves company

I ran to work this morning. It was kind of nasty - wet, windy, and it was snowing a bit too. I used to think biking to work in the rain sucked, but running sucks pretty badly too.

Felt like crap until I warmed up after 2K. When the snowflakes starting hitting my face, I had one of those "Why the hell am I doing this" moments.

Felt much better when I said "Good morning" to some truly miserable cyclists coming the other way.

New Years resolutions

I guess most people have a New Years resolution that involves some sort of "Get in shape" idea. I finally got around to doing my bit... went for a run with Charles tonight. We did about 8K. Nice relaxed pace. Averaged 5.42/km. Average heart rate of 163, max of 187.

Charles was feeling a bit out of shape since he hasn't been skiing as much. I haven't been biking to work since my bike accident, and there has been wet snow/sub zero temperatures the last little while. Call me a chicken, but I'm going to wait until there is no possibility of black ice or slippery patches before I start riding back to work. What it comes down to is I'm feeling out of shape.

snow!

I went to a party at 9.15, and when I left 3 hours later, the entire city is covered in snow. The usual idiots who seem to think that going down a 2 lane road with their blinkers on means they can do anything they want. No, the blinkers don't mean that, they just mean you're an idiot.

Snow is actually quite pretty in the city... it covers up all the warts and bumps.  It also means that it's cold outside, so I've moved the worms inside. Um.... wormy smelling apartment.

Bubbly bubbly Vancouver

Vancouver used to be the stock scam capital of the world.
Then we have the currently deflating housing bubble.
Next up, the Olympic ticket bubble.

Fun times.
